Do You Examine My Pet Before Surgery?
Yes, our veterinarians perform a pre-operative physical examination to ensure your pet is a good candidate for surgery. We will examine your pet under anesthesia if they are too fractious to handle. If your pet shows signs of illness or concerns, we may refuse surgery if we feel surgery is a health risk.
Do You Use Anesthesia?
The comfort and safety of the animal is of the utmost importance to us. Our patients are anesthetized with safe anesthetic agents. They receive anesthetic monitoring via respiratory monitors and pulse oximetry, which measures heart rate and oxygen levels.
Requirements for Surgery
- Pets must be healthy and weigh over 3 lbs for surgery.
- Pets without proof of vaccines will receive Rabies and Distemper at the owner’s expense.
- Pets with fleas will be treated at the owner’s expense.
- Bloodwork is required for all pets over one year of age.
- Pets must fast for 12 hours before surgery. Water is fine right up until you bring them.
